Maintenance Raiders in the winter, is your jazz drum okay?

With the advent of winter, fans who love music should not forget to care for their favorite instruments, besides keeping warm.

Winter is also a severe test for jazz drums. If it is not properly maintained, it will cause the jazz drum to be scrapped!

Today, I summed up some methods of maintaining the drums in winter, hoping to help everyone.

The problems that are usually encountered in winter are: cracking of the drumhead and foaming of PVC. There are more PVC foaming problems, especially in the north with heating.

Precautions

To avoid an excessively dry air environment, especially in the warm northern winter, you can place a basin or humidifier indoors.

An overly dry drumhead is prone to cracking, and as the wood becomes very dry, it shrinks. Also keep in mind that air conditioning or heating cannot be used to blow the drums.

Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or excessive heat, or in an environment where the ambient temperature often changes drastically to prevent aging.

When the ambient temperature changes drastically during handling, the elastic force of the drumhead will change. Do not play it for a while.

At the same time, it is easy to form a layer of water mist from the cold environment into the warm environment metal surface, and it should be wiped off in time.

When it is cold, you can use the drum key to properly adjust the tightness of each drum screw, and slightly loosen the drum skin to prevent cracking.

It is best to find a professional to prevent the drums from being too loose and the sound is not good.

Note: Do not wipe with any abrasive cleaners and wipes such as steel wool.
